One of the primary challenges federal agents encounter during arrests involving subjects in possession of mobile devices, particularly smartphones, is the presence of password or biometric protection. Current legal frameworks generally prohibit law enforcement from compelling individuals to disclose passcodes or unlock their devices. However, alternative investigative and technical methods may be available to lawfully access the data.
